Magnesium peroxide is a fine, very pale yellow, odourless powder.
Magnesium peroxide decomposes slowly in contact with water with the generation of oxygen. Typically H2O2 is not generated under these conditions due to the high pH.
2MgO2 + 2H2O => 2 Mg(OH)2 +O2
